Alaska Travel Industry Association Foundation, Inc.
The Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) Foundation was established to assist Alaskans desiring to further their education in the travel industry. The Officers of the Foundation consist of industry volunteers who dedicate their time on a voluntary basis. Funds are raised through annual events, pledges from industry members at the Alaska Travel Industry Association annual convention and the Permanent Fund Dividend Pick.Click.Give. program. The ATIA Foundation invests in Alaskans to ensure a strong industry now and in the future through scholarships and support for community events.
The ATIA Foundation supports a tourism scholarship program. The scholarship program originally formed under the Alaska Visitor Association (AVA) in 1997. In 2001, AVA merged into the Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) and the foundation incorporated as the ATIA Foundation. Since 2001, the Foundation has awarded $260,000 in scholarships to more than 130 individuals. From Ketchikan to Nome and Kodiak to Tok with a special Rural Award benefiting villages and small communities, the scholarship program strengthens the travel industry across the state and assists in the education of Alaskans working in tourism.
